Como Park Lutheran Church Seeding Joy and Abundance

On Hoyt Avenue you’ll find a little free library adorned with the Luther Rose in front of the Como Park Lutheran Church. Here you’ll find the latest of the Como Community Seed Library little free library seed collections. This welcoming congregation has a long tradition of service  particularly through their hunger ministries. Each year they collect thousands of pounds of food and monetary donations for local organizations like Keystone Community Services and Every Meal.

 How You Can Help

Donate Food

In fact this coming Sunday Como Park Lutheran Church will be collecting donations in the church parking lot at the southwest corner of Hoyt and Hamline from 12-2pm as a part of the Minnesota FoodShare March campaign. You can find a list of needed items on the church website.

Share Space in Your Garden

This season Como Community Seed Library and Como Park Lutheran Church are teaming up for the Como Grow a Row .  If you’re  new to Grow a Row programs it’s an easy way for a community to select certain varieties of fruits and vegetables and dedicate a row in their gardens to grow them for donation to local organizations fighting food insecurity as well as seed saving.  You can pick up your seeds for this grow-a-long on Sunday when you drop off your donations at the March FoodShare collection. We’ll have a highlighted set of  easy to grow seeds for desired crops for you to choose from as well as growing information to make your effort a success. Throughout the growing season we’ll be sharing what members of the Como Grow a Row have growing in their gardens and track the garden bounty that gets donated through Como Park Lutheran Church collections.

So join us on Sunday, donate what you can and grab your seeds for an abundant garden ready to share with your neighbors.
