Como Community Seed Library is cultivating community

Our History

Como Community Seed Library was founded in the fall of 2015 to give our community access to free organic, open pollinated, open access seed when available and garden education. CCSL is a mobile seed library that is based in the Como Park neighborhood of Saint Paul and serves Saint Paul and her surrounding communities.

We believe that everyone has a seed story and knowledge to share. We recognize that not all of our community members have equal access to nutritious food, land and resources to support their growing vision. CCSL is here to act as a connector wherever possible.

Gardening is an act of optimism and resilience. Growing from seed connects us to the seasonal cycles, our ties to land, culture, history, and our place in the world. It’s a simple act but also revolutionary.

Come sow, grow, save, and share with us

ROLE: CCSL Founder, Organizer

BIO: Dawn Lamm says it all starts with a seed!  Life long Gardener, Como Park Neighborhood resident and community volunteer,  Dawn founded the Como Community Seed Library in 2015, a mobile seed library with a focus on offering organic, open pollinated seed for check out along with garden education that grows seed savers to the Como Park neighborhood in Saint Paul MN and surrounding communities. Since 2015 we continue to share seeds and their stories reflecting the cultural richness of our location. We do this through satellite seed library locations, popups at community events, farmers' markets, and collaborations like MNSEED. Community stewardship of our environment through seed saving and sharing is our goal. You can find Dawn in her family garden where she’s always finding new garden experiments, working with her bees or exploring the natural world around her.
